If CT_CSD = 1 (i.e. in a CMA), then the code is CMA## where CMA is the 3-digit CMA code followed by a two-digit id number for the region within that CMA. If CT_CSD = 2, then the region code is PR9### where PR is the two-digit province code, followed by a 9, followed by a 3-digit region number. The information encoded in the region code will thus allow a user to determine which province and CMA (if applicable) a region is located in. To determine the exact location and boundaries, a user should consult the crosswalk file. The crosswalk identifies which census tracts or census subdivisions are contained within a given happiness region. We provide a GIS file, above. You can also map the regions by using the crosswalks in combination with GIS files for census tracts and census subdivisions available from Statistics Canada.
